We're looking for a corps member to run the day to day of Travu with us. You will be the first person a user hears from when something breaks or confuses them, and the person who makes sure the founder finds out about it. It is a wide role at a small company, which means you will see how a product actually gets run rather than one slice of it.
About the role
Most of your week is people and follow-through. You answer the support inbox, work out what is actually going wrong when someone reports a problem, write it up clearly enough that it can be fixed, and keep track of the things that keep coming up. The rest is the unglamorous machinery of a small company: keeping the help content accurate, chasing the loose ends, and keeping a simple record of what happened this week. You will work directly with the founder and alongside the Brand & Marketing Manager. This is a remote-first role, and we know your CDS day is not ours to claim.
Who we’re looking for
- A corps member starting or currently in your service year, available to be posted to us as your place of primary assignment
- You write clearly. Most of this job is explaining things to people who are already a bit annoyed, in a way that calms them down
- Organised by instinct. Nothing waits three days because you forgot it existed
- Patient with people and curious about why software misbehaves. You do not need to code, but you should enjoy working out what went wrong
- Comfortable with everyday tools: a spreadsheet, a shared doc, a support inbox
- Honest about what you do not know, and quick to ask
Nice to have: any experience answering customers, running a page or a student group, or having your own opinions about apps you use. None of it is required.
What we expect from you
- Answer the support inbox within a day, every working day
- Reproduce reported problems, write down the exact steps, and hand them over in a state that can be fixed
- Keep a running list of what users complain about most, and tell us about it weekly
- Keep the help and FAQ content accurate as the product changes
- Answer questions from our community wherever people are asking them
- Handle the small day to day admin that keeps a company moving
- Tell the founder early when something looks wrong, rather than hoping it resolves itself
What’s in it for you?
What a service year here actually gets you:
- See a whole company, not one department.
- Real responsibility on a live product with real users.
- The founder as your direct mentor, not a name on an org chart.
- Skills that travel: calming an angry user, chasing down a bug, juggling ten small things.
- Something concrete to point at, not "assisted with operations".
- A real conversation about staying on at the six month review.
Compensation
Your package is made up of:
- Monthly allowance, paid by Travu
- Power allowance
- Internet allowance
- Lunch and feeding allowance
- Travel allowance
- Equipment allowance
This runs for your service year, with a proper sit-down at six months to talk about how it is going and what happens after. If it is working for both of us, we would rather keep you than start again.
You will have the founder as a direct mentor. You will see how a live product is run, how decisions get made with no budget, and what breaks first when real people show up. That is the part of this we take seriously.
Travu is self funded, so the allowance is modest and we would rather say so plainly than dress it up.
Our recruitment process
- We read your application and product trial notes
- A 20 to 30 minute call to get to know you
- A short practical exercise: three real support emails, answered the way you would send them
- A final conversation with the founder, then the NYSC placement paperwork
We try to move quickly and keep you posted along the way.
Apply
Fill in the form below. It takes about fifteen minutes. You will need:
- A short note on why Travu, and why this role
- How you would explain Travu to someone who has never heard of it
- Anything you have built, run, or organised, with a note on what you actually did
- Your resume or LinkedIn link, and a resume file if you have one handy
- A short product trial: create a free Travu account, put together a quick test trip, and tell us your username along with one piece of feedback
