We're hiring our first Brand & Marketing Manager: the person who shapes how Travu sounds and looks everywhere people run into it, and who runs the campaigns that get groups actually planning trips together. We just launched, so this is a real builder role at an early company, not a specialist seat on a big team.
About the role
This is a generalist role. You'll own our brand identity, run our social channels, and plan and execute the campaigns that bring people in. You will also make most of the day to day content yourself: the social graphics, the short clips cut from real trips, the posts that go out on a Tuesday. We are not asking you to be a designer or a film maker, and when a project needs that level of craft, like brand identity work, a launch film, motion graphics, or ad creative at volume, you'll brief and manage the contractor who can do it. Part of the job is watching how people actually use Travu and what's moving in travel and social media, then adjusting your approach based on what the data says rather than a hunch. You'll work directly with the founder day to day and coordinate with product and community efforts. The role is remote-first and fast-moving, so you'll be juggling a few things at once. We'd like someone based in or near Lagos who can meet up now and then, but that's a preference, not a requirement.
Who we’re looking for
- Two to four years in marketing, brand, or social media, with at least one channel or campaign you ran start to finish
- Writing people actually notice. Our tone is plain and specific, and we'll ask to see examples of yours
- You can make things look decent without waiting on a designer: social graphics in Canva or Figma, and basic short-form video editing. We will ask to see posts you made yourself, not only ones you planned
- A real hands-on streak: in one week you might write copy, build a set of social graphics, cut a short clip, schedule a week of posts, and pull together a report
- Comfortable reading your own results: you can work out what a campaign actually did from the numbers, and change course because of them rather than because something felt right
- Good at juggling several campaigns or deadlines at once without dropping one
Nice to have: time marketing a consumer app, especially travel, social, or group planning. Some paid media or SEO experience. Practice briefing freelancers. A sharp eye helps too: you do not need to be a designer, but you should be able to tell good work from bad and give a contractor useful feedback.
What we expect from you
- Keep our brand identity and guidelines consistent across the app, the site, and everywhere else people see us
- Plan and run our acquisition, brand, and retention campaigns: set the goals and budget, then report honestly on what worked and what didn't
- Make the everyday content yourself: social graphics, short clips cut from real trips, and the posts that carry them
- Brief and manage contractors when a project needs real craft: brand identity work, launch films, motion graphics, or ad creative at volume
- Watch how people actually use Travu and what's moving in travel and social media, and let that shape what you try next
- Handle our social presence day to day, from the content calendar to actually posting and replying to people
- Report on performance every month, with real numbers, not vibes
- Work with product and community so how we talk about a new feature actually matches what we shipped
What’s in it for you?
Beyond the money:
- Own a brand end to end: voice, look, campaigns, community.
- Ship fast. An idea on Monday can be live on Wednesday, with no approval chain.
- Learn what most marketers never touch: budgets, contractors, analytics, what to kill.
- Build a portfolio, not a CV line. A brand you shaped, and numbers you can point to.
- Work with the founder directly. Say it to the person who can change it.
- First refusal on what the role becomes.
Compensation
Your package is made up of:
- Salary, paid monthly
- Power allowance
- Internet allowance
- Lunch and feeding allowance
- Travel allowance
- Equipment allowance
We start this as a three month paid pilot on full pay, then convert it into a permanent full-time role if it is working for both of us. You will know on day one exactly what we will look at when we review, and you will hear how it is going long before the three months are up.
Travu is self funded, so we would rather put the range up front than waste your time. What it buys you is a brand nobody has shaped yet, and a founder who will not make you route every decision through three people.
Our recruitment process
- We read your application, samples, and product trial notes
- A 20 to 30 minute intro call to hear about your work and how you think about brand
- A small, paid trial task: real work, time-boxed, and compensated
- A final conversation with the founder, plus a reference check
- Then the three month paid pilot, which we review together at the end
We try to move quickly and keep you posted along the way.
Apply
Fill in the form below. It takes about fifteen minutes if you have your links to hand. You will need:
- A short note on why Travu
- One idea for how you'd introduce us to someone who's never heard of us
- Two or three work samples (brand, social, or campaign work), with a note on exactly what you did on each one. Include at least one thing you made yourself
- Your resume or LinkedIn link, and a resume file if you have one handy
- A short product trial as part of our screening questionnaire: create a free Travu account, put together a quick test trip, and tell us your username along with one piece of feedback
